IRMA is a pioneering academic institution in rural management education and research. Many good stand-alone programmes of business management and development are available in India today. IRMA's PGDRM integrates the two streams and equips talented men and women with both development perspectives and business acumen. On May 2, 2015, National Assessment & Accreditation Council (NAAC) declared IRMA accredited with CGPA of 3.30 on four point scale at 'A' Grade up to April 30, 2020. IRMA recognises that institutions working for rural development operate in a complex environment, in which there is a far greater need for professional management.
IRMA trains talented men and women through a well-structured two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management, in order to undertake challenging responsibilities in development and producers' organisations with the right ethical values. IRMA has been working closely with its client organisations to integrate their emerging needs into its academic programme by periodically revising the curricula. The present PGDRM design is a reflection of this growing partnership.
The PGDRM curriculum provides a wide spectrum of high quality courses with a greater focus on experiential learning. The curriculum comprises four distinct yet mutually supportive segments - classroom, village field work, development internship and management internship. The curriculum is highly acclaimed and approved by the reputed assessors and accreditation bodies. Furthermore, PGDRM graduates are known to carve a distinct reputation in their professional environment for their empathy, brilliance, commitment and integrity.
The PGDRM is recognized as equivalent to Master's degree in Rural Management by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). On March 10, 2017, National Board of Accreditation (NBA) has accredited the Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management (PGDRM) of IRMA up to June 30, 2021.
The total number of seats available for PGDRM 2018 - 20 is 240. Fifteen percent of the approved intake is allocated for admission to Foreign Nationals/NRI applicants.
