MDP / Training

The actualisation of capacity-building skills has been the mainstay of IRMA's much sought-after Management Development Programmes (MDPs) over time. They have benefited executives and managers alike in enterprises that include co-operatives, not-for-profit organisations, and government and semi-government organisations engaged in rural development through both open as well as and custom-designed short and long-term MDPs. Understandably, executive participation in these MDPs is considerable. Ever since their inception in 1981, our MDPs have stood to benefit cooperatives, NGOs, and the government and semi-government organizations engaged in rural development. Structured to tailored requirements their contours are adjusted as per demand.
With 13 sponsored and 24 open programmes integrated within the MDP ambit, amongst IRMA's preferred long-term core programmes is one entitled "Fostering Core Leaders of Agricultural Co-Operatives". Sponsored by the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA), the latter is designed to empower participants with skills and experience that create lasting value to an organisation. Another core IRMA-run programme, VOLAG-MAP, has been developed solely for voluntary agencies. The VOLAG-MAP or the Management Appreciation Programme for Voluntary Agencies focuses on honing participants' managerial tools and development perspectives. This four-week residential programme, besides offering a mix of exciting modules, runs intensive workshops on specific aspects of management and development. VOLAG-MAP participants usually hail from voluntary organizations in developing countries including Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Tanzania.
IRMA conducts programmes of both short and long duration lasting anything between one and four weeks. Both open and custom-designed (for sponsors) these programmes cater to professionals associated with organisations served by IRMA including co-operatives, NGOs, banks, and government and semi-government organisations. Constant update is the watchword in the context of changing needs and trends.
Several new names including Tata Motors, Central Soil & Water Conservation Institute (Uttarakhand), and Panchayat & Rural Development Department (West Bengal) jumped onto the sponsorship bandwagon for on-campus MDPs. The off-campus MDPs featured novelties like the Central Power Research Institute, Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Ltd, Dairy Development Department (Punjab), and Orient Cement.
This year, some 62 organizations joined the MDP fold including Access Development Services, Gujarat Industries Power Company, and Kancor Ingredients Ltd.
