"A country's growth is owed to the entrepreneurial spirit of its youth," said Shri Pankaj Dubey during his Commencement Speech at the auditorium of the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) on July 10, 2018. Shri Dubey, Country Head & Managing Director, Polaris (India), was addressing the new (39th) batch of participants admitted to IRMA's Masters' equivalent programme, the Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management (PRM).
Shri Dubey exhorted the latest entrants to the Institute emphasizing that "in order to be successful you have to dream big," echoing IRMA's late founder's, Dr. Kurien's vision in his memorable autobiography I Too Had A Dream. "My dream," indicated Shri Dubey, "is that poverty will be eliminated from India by 2040." This dream, he said, "can only be achieved through the growth of the rural economy."
The Commencement Speech by an industry leader is a new feature of IRMA's much-hailed Induction Programme, which was flagged off on July 2, 2018. The nine-day programme is a rite of passage at the country's premier rural management institute, which begins with orienting participants to the Institute, its mission, and values. The main thrust of the programme is the Induction Fieldwork involving a four-day long stay in a village for initiation purposes and for demystifying romantic myths with regard to "rural".
