TASS Session by Angshu Mallick, IRMA Alumnus and COO, Adani Wilmar

Mr. Angshu Mallick, an IRMA alumnus of PRM 5 and COO, Adani Wilmar Ltd. (AWL) visited the Institute on August 9 and addressed students and faculty in the ongoing Thursday Afternoon Seminar Series (TASS).

In the talk titled, "Transition from Unrefined, Unbranded Oil to Refined, Branded Oil; and the Way Forward", he charted the consumption patterns of edible oil over the past few decades and underscored how a particular type of edible oil became the preferred one across the country, while others became regionally popular.

He showed how AWL's ‘Fortune' brand has participated and triggered this changing trend. Edible oil has transitioned from being used and sold as unbranded basic food to now-branded functional food.

He also highlighted similar trends that can be observed in different brands and commodities and the important role of marketing communication for these brands.

Mr. Mallick regaled the audience with his experiences in the field. During his interaction with the students, he also discussed his inspiring evolution from a trainee in sales to the COO of AWL.

The Thursday Afternoon Seminar Series (TASS) is a weekly initiative at IRMA aimed as a forum where updates and current events in the field of rural management and development can be discussed and new ideas can fructify.
