IRMA has entered into an agreement with International Co-operative Alliance Asia and Pacific (ICA-AP) to Establish and Strengthen Relations and Partnerships at Regional Level. The agreement has been undertaken by IRMA’s Verghese Kurien Centre of Excellence (VKCoE) and is in line with the Framework Partnership Agreement, Cooperatives in Development – People-centered Businesses in Action, between ICA-AP and the European Commission.
Existing and new partnerships with Civil Society Organizations are essential for harmonizing policy positions, leverage impact and speak on certain themes with one voice. Further benefits of relations and partnerships are knowledge sharing and exchange of information for an improved advocacy capacity or concrete activity implementation.
The work with such networks and partnerships needs to be strengthened at regional level, in order to benefit from synergies and economies of scale in the implementation of cooperative development activities and policies.
IRMA will support the ICA-EU Partnership on Co-operatives in Development in India as a Co-operative Expert. The broad areas of engagement will include research, impact evaluation, benchmarking of best practices by co-operatives in the Asia Pacific region as well as training and capacity building programmes for co-operators.
VKCoE aims to act as a catalyst in documenting the achievements in dairy sector in India, benchmark with national initiatives around the world and create the desired repository for the benefit of all the stakeholders.
While IRMA focuses on research, innovation, knowledge preservation and dissemination, outreach, extension and policy, VKCoE strives to emerge as an important platform for such interactions and exchanges and leapfrog the collective model to the next level.
