IRMA has collaborated with SMC College of Dairy Science, Anand Agricultural University (AAU) to promote and facilitate academic and scientific cooperation.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IRMA and AAU was signed in the presence of Dr NC Patel, Hon. Vice Chancellor, AAU and Prof Hitesh Bhatt, Director, IRMA. Also present were Prof Harekrishna Misra, Chair Professor, Verghese Kurien Centre of Excellence (VKCoE); Dr J.B. Prajapati, Dean, SMC College of Dairy Science; Dr M N Brahmbhatt and Dr MM Trivedi.
Under this MoU, IRMA and AAU - among other objectives - will introduce five-year integrated B.Tech (Dairy Techonology) and Post Graduate Diploma in Dairy Management (PGDDM). The five-year, integrated programme will include four years of B.Tech (Dairy Technology) and will lead to a joint degree of PGDDM upon successful completion of the final year. National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal (NDRI), is also a part of this agreement. Students of SMC College of Dairy Science under the AAU and students of NDRI will be awarded Diploma by the respective Universities. However, IRMA will be a part of this Degree-granting process.
It may be noted that PGDDM will be offered by IRMA to B.Tech (Dairy Technology) students of SMC College of Dairy Science and NDRI in their respective campuses. IRMA faculty will visit the campuses for administering the programme. This PGDDM programme is no way connected to IRMA’s flagship Post Graduate Diploma in Rural Management (PGDRM). The objective of this programme is to enhance the managerial skill-set of B.Tech (Dairy Technology) students and to prepare them to assume techno-managerial positions even in the initial stage of their professional career. PGDDM programme is also aimed at motivating the students to join PGDRM programme of IRMA at a later stage.
The first batch of the PGDDM programme will be inducted in the academic year 2019-2020 of SMC College of Dairy Science (AAU) and NDRI.
