Prof Harekrishna Misra has been invited by the United Nations University Operational Unit on Policy-driven Electronic Governance (UNU-EGOV), to its Project Steering Committee for Measuring Rural Electronic Governance.
The project will focus on the role of digital governance in the context of rural communities and rural development challenges. In particular, it aims at addressing the design of digitisation strategies, their implementation, measuring and monitoring, as well as its contribution to attain a number of fundamental Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) related to poverty and hunger eradication, reduced inequalities and decent work and economic growth.
It follows the 12th International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic Governance (ICEGOV) held from 3-5 April, 2019 in Melbourne, Australia where Prof Misra Chaired a Workshop on the topic, Towards Measuring Rural Electronic Governance.
In addition to Prof Misra, the Committee’s composition will be as follows:
- Prof Adegboyega Ojo, Senior Research Fellow and the E-Government Group Leader at the Insight Centre for Data Analytics, National University of Ireland, Galway, Ireland.
- Prof Ahmed Imran, Professor and IT Researcher at School of Engineering and Information Technology, UNSW Canberra at the Australian Defence Force Academy, Australia.
- Dr Deepak Misra, Deputy Director General of the National Informatics Centre, Government of India, India.
- Prof Luis Soares Barbosa, Full Professor at the Informatics Department , University of Minho, and Deputy-Director of UNU-EGUV, Guimarães, Portugal.
