Knowledge Building on Entreprenuership

Ongoing projects:

1. CSEE's proposal "Creating a Social Entrepreneurial Ecosystem through an Incubator" hasreceived support for five years from the Department of Science and Technology (DST) under its Innovation-Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development (i-STED) programme. As part of the project ISEED has been working actively on technology development and outreach with:
A. Shardadevi Gramudyog Utpadak Sahakari Mandli Ltd (SGS) on a project to "Develop Tribal Entrepreneurship for improving Value Chain through processing of fruit and vegetable crops for the tribal block of Chhotaudepur".
B. Earth 360 Eco Ventures (P) Ltd to "Develop an "IMPROVED ECCENTRIC GRADER" For community level millet processing" with partner social enterprise Earth 360.

Completed Research Projects / Grants

1. "Seeding Social Innovation and Enterprise in Universities" is a study supported by the British Council jointly with The Hive, Nottingham Trent University and UnLTd UK. The project enabled IRMA's CSEE to identify and work with social enterprises and explore collaborations both with IRMA and one another. The project enabled the setting up of IRMA's incubator through an international workshop in 2017. (Coordinated by Prof. C Shambu Prasad).
2. A study was conducted along with Shroffs Foundation Trust (SFT) on "The Collaborative Study of Eight Agricultural Value Chains in the Tribal District of Chhotaudepur, Gujarat" by Prof. MV Durga Prasad (2016-17).

3. "Behavioral Analysis of Farmers Decision Making on Agricultural Innovations (2014-2016)" is a study supported by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) that critically analyses and brings out the process involved in farmers' decision making during selection, adoption, and continuation of agricultural innovations. (Coordinated by Prof MV Durga Prasad).

4. "Rural and Agricultural Mechanization in Odisha: Policy Implications of the Spread of Small Engines and Other Small Equipment"; the CSEE Study (with the Verghese Kurien Centre of Excellence) received a consultancy from the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre (CIMMYT) (Coordinated by Prof. C Shambu Prasad)

5. "The Emerging Role of Women Entrepreneurs in the New Indian Middle Class (2015-17)": is the name of the project in collaboration with the Institute for Human Development (IHD), New Delhi. It is funded by The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) under its Sponsored Studies Programme (2012-2017). The study is aimed at uncovering macro as well as micro level perspectives on women entrepreneurs in the context of the emergence of new Indian middle class (Project Co-Director, Prof. Vanita Yadav and Project Director: Prof. Jeemol Unni).

6. "Framework for User Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Rural India (2013-14)"was part of MoRD's grant to IRMA coordinated by Prof. Vanita Yadav. It was published as IRMA Working Paper No 262 and as an AoM conference Vancouver journal article.

7. Tokyo's Weseda University had commissioned a study on the "Impact of Mobile on Women's Empowerment in Rural Gujarat". The study examines the extent to which mobile usage contributes to improving livelihoods in rural areas. (Project coordinator -Prof Ila Patel)

8. "Conducting value chain studies of several agri products in Anantapur & Chittoor Districts" was a project conducted under the operational areas of APMAS (Andhra Pradesh Mahila Abhivruddhi Society) for promoting sustainable Farmers' Producer Organizations. The study was conducted to effectively engage in interventions to maximize value for the farmers based on gaps identified in the value chain. Families associated with farming saw an an improved quality of life as a result. The year-long study started in December 2015 and was coordinated by Prof. MV Durga Prasad.

9. For the study "Organised Operations of Women Entrepreneurs for Innovative Agro Products in Karnataka State" Prof. Paresh Bhatt and MV Durga Prasad, members of CSEE, proposed a visit plan to scrutinizeagro-enterprises in Karnataka.
