Poonam Barhoi
  • Dr. Poonam Barhoi is an Assistant Professor in the Organizational Behavior and Human Resources area of IRMA. She completed her PhD from the Indian Institute of Management Indore. Poonam’s research interests include gender-based violence, diversity and inclusion, socioeconomic inequalities, caste and indigeneity, and postcolonial feminist studies. Her research has been published in Business & SocietyGender, Work & Organization, Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly, and Equality, Diversity & Inclusion journals.

    For her research, Poonam Barhoi has received several accolades, including the ‘Best Doctoral Student Paper’ award from Academy of Management (2023), the 'Best Paper designation for AOM Best Paper Proceedings’ (2025), and 'Professor Anshuman Prasad Award' for the Best Paper on Postcolonial Scholarship and Decolonial Practice by the Critical Management Studies division of the Academy of Management (2025). She also received the ‘Finalist: Best Paper’ award at the 2nd Global Conference on Caste, Business & Society (2024). Dr. Poonam has worked in the development sector for three years with organizations such as PRADAN, India Fellow, and Dhriiti-The Courage Within before her PhD.
